- The main purpose of developing Google Sheet is real-time monitoring of cotton data.

Agriculture Department South Punjab launched google sheet “Virtual Cotton Pest Management Hub”.
Under the leadership of Secretary Agriculture South Punjab, Saqib Ali Ateel has developed and launched an online Google Workbook named “Virtual Cotton Pest Management Hub”. Through this work, scouting, management and other activities of cotton can be tracked online. This workbook structure has three separate sheets. Each sheet is named according to the type of data of the Department of Agriculture Extension, Pest Warning and Monitoring Team, which will have different colors. Only specific people should be allowed for data entry in this sheet. Secretary Agriculture South Punjab added that the main objective of developing this Google sheet is real-time monitoring of cotton data. This will enable independent monitors to counter-check correct data on cotton pests and nutrition. That all other field activities including nutrition and pest scouting recorded in the said workbook will be monitored. He further said that in South Punjab, 11 entomologists from different departments of the Agriculture Department have been assigned duties for monitoring cotton pests and counter-checking the data recorded by the Pest Warning and Extension Department.
Each monitoring officer will receive at least 70 Hotspots are targeted. Monitors will record observations on the third sheet of Virtual Cotton Pest Management Hub on the first day of their visit. Hotspots and treatment status will be recorded on Google sheet by Department of Agriculture Extension and Pest Warning staff. The verification of the advisory will also be the responsibility of the monitoring officers. The monitors will be able to check the condition of the cotton crop in their allotted tehsils, the use of pesticides, nozzles, the type of machinery used for spraying and the spraying techniques. They will also be able to enter remarks in their respective Google Sheets. Secretary Agriculture South Punjab further said that the objective of developing the online mechanism is to achieve better production by timely controlling cotton pests using modern technology.
