Office Introduction
The Agriculture Research Station was established at Khanpur District Rahim Yar Khan during the year 1950-51 by the defunct Bahawalpur State to start research work on varietal development of Rapeseed & Mustard, Pulses and Wheat crops. During 1952, the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee established a Cotton Research Station at Khanpur.


Later in 1958, the Government of the Punjab, Agriculture Department established two independent sections to undertake research on sugarcane and tobacco crops. Sub-stations of Agronomy, Entomology, Phytopathology, Cotton and Agricultural Chemistry were established in 1961 under the economic botanist, Khanpur. In 1973, a post of Assistant Agronomist (Sugarcane) was transferred to Bahawalpur to create a Sugarcane Sub-station. In 1969, most of the agricultural research set-ups except Oilseed, sugarcane and cotton were shifted to Bahawalpur. During 1976-77 Oilseed Research Station was established under the director Oilseed Research Institute, Faisalabad.
