Scheme objectives:To strengthen soybean variety development program.To provide high quality seed for multiplication and demonstrate advanced production technologies.To enhance mechanization, processing for poultry feed and edible oil industry, value-addition to foster strong farmer-industry linkages.To establish international collaborations for capacity building, technology transfer and germplasm exchange.To develop GM and GE soybean.To provide necessary policy support and advocacy.

Name of the Scheme:Import Substitution and Export Enhancement through Promotion of Sesame, Rapeseed & Mustard Including Canola
Total Cost:Rs. 472.300 Million
Gestation Period:3 years (2024-25 to 2026-27)
Scheme objective:To increase local production of healthy and nutritious edible oils i.e. Rapeseed & Mustard including Canola for import substitution and increase exports of Sesame crop for rise in foreign exchange. This activity will also increase crop diversification i.e. shifting from traditional cropping pattern to high value crops.
Scheme Components:Laying out of Demonstration Plots for showcasing of agricultural production technologies.Conducting Farmer Trainings Programs (FTPs)/Farmer Days.Awareness SeminarsTrainings regarding value chain with participation of Farmers, Arhties for storing, support and exports of edible oilseed crops.Provision of Subsidy on Agricultural Implements.Dissemination of latest printed production technologies of edible oilseeds to the farmers.Campaign through print, electronic media and social media.Ensuring availability of quality seed of high yielding Rapeseed & Mustard including Canola hybrids in the market.Assisting to edible oilseed growers in crop procurement through All Pakistan Solvent Extractors Association (APSEA).

Benefits of the ProjectThe increase in productivity of oilseeds will add to the GDP and save bill of billions of rupees incurred on import of oilseeds.This will help save foreign exchange.Direct disbursement of Support will also help reduce poverty as thousands of farmer families will benefit from the project.
